Position Overview:
Deliver direct patient care in accordance with the guidelines and protocols established by the medical director of the Rapid Response Team.

Operate within the defined scope of practice as mandated by the New Mexico Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, alongside any sanctioned special skills.

Act as a patient advocate and ensure compliance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care responsibilities may encompass Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric age groups.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Care: Provide basic to advanced life support, including defibrillation, endotracheal intubation, medication administration, and other critical interventions.
  • Patient Stabilization: Work independently to stabilize patients and manage care until additional medical personnel arrive; triage emergency situations and prepare patients for transport.
  • Medication Administration: Administer medications via various routes, ensuring adherence to the seven rights of medication administration.
  • Environment Maintenance: Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and their families, adhering to hospital standards.
  • Equipment Management: Monitor and maintain supply areas and medical equipment as necessary.
  • Professional Development: Participate in educational sessions and departmental meetings as required.
  • Customer Relations: Foster positive relationships with patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
  • Quality Assurance: Engage in departmental quality improvement initiatives.
  • Orientation: Assist in the training of new staff members as needed.
  • Patient Safety: Adhere to safety protocols and actively seek opportunities to enhance patient safety.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with various teams across the hospital to improve patient outcomes and decrease mortality rates.
  • Advanced Procedures: Perform specialized skills such as ultrasound-guided venous access and blood draws as requested by providers.
Qualifications:
Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent (Essential)
  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree in a related field (Nonessential)
Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience (Essential)
  • 3 years of directly related experience (Nonessential)
Certifications:
  • CPR for Healthcare Providers/BLS (Essential)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (Essential)
  • Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic License (Essential)
  • PALS Certification (Essential)
Physical Requirements:

Heavy Work: Ability to exert significant force to move objects or individuals, requiring physical stamina and strength.
