Position Overview

The Isleta branch of Presbyterian Healthcare Services is in search of a dedicated Emergency Medical Technician.

This role involves delivering advanced medical assistance within the State-sanctioned scope of practice in an emergency department environment. The EMT will respond to emergency medical calls and administer care to patients who are injured or experiencing health crises.

Required Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include prior EMS Dispatch experience and a minimum of 2 years of experience in emergency department patient care, particularly in triage. A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline along with 2 years of direct patient care experience is required. A current New Mexico EMT license is mandatory, and National EMD certification is preferred. CPR and ACLS certifications are also required. Proficiency in typing at least 20 words per minute is preferred, along with the ability to read, write, and follow both verbal and written instructions.

Key Responsibilities

* Engage in patient care activities based on the specific needs and acuity of patients. Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and their families. Organize care to enhance the overall quality of the healthcare team.

* Deliver care in accordance with the State Approved Scope of Practice and established competencies.

* Assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of emergency supplies and equipment.

* Monitor patients and maintain accurate records using patient monitoring systems and electronic health records. Document and maintain a comprehensive medical record to facilitate billing for each patient treated.

* Report any significant changes in patient status to the Nurse, Charge Nurse, and Provider. Provide necessary patient reports to other staff members.

* Handle the paperwork and information processing for patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.

* Participate in unit-based Shared Governance activities and assist in implementing recommended changes.

* Perform additional duties as assigned.

* May monitor patient cardiac rhythms and maintain records, documenting any critical changes and notifying the Nurse immediately of any life-threatening conditions.

* May receive emergency and non-emergency medical calls from various contacts, ensuring equitable distribution of incoming patients among the team in the emergency department.

* Coordinate transfer arrangements with appropriate EMS transport agencies for patients requiring transfer from the emergency department.

* Maintain positive communication and collaboration with the EMS service line and other internal and external stakeholders.

Compensation

The maximum offer for this position is up to USD $32.17/Hr.
