Position Title: Emergency Med Tech/Paramedic

Position Overview:
The University of New Mexico, School of Medicine, Department of Emergency Medicine, is actively seeking part-time Paramedics to join our Emergency Medical Services Consortium. The selected candidates will be responsible for responding to emergencies across the state under the guidance of the EMS Medical Direction Consortium.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide primary advanced life support to patients in alignment with EMS Consortium contracts.
- Attend to emergency medical requests as they arise, delivering on-site assistance as necessary.
- Conduct initial assessments and manage patient care for emergencies, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
- Prepare patients for transport, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
- Deliver basic direct patient care as required, following departmental policies and safety standards.
- Regularly inspect emergency medical equipment to ensure compliance with safety and infection control regulations.
- Complete and transfer patient care documentation as per established procedures.
- Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

Employment Conditions:
  • Submission of immunization records may be required for review.
  • Hepatitis vaccination will be provided, with options for declination or proof of prior vaccination.
  • Compliance with the influenza vaccination requirement is mandatory for those working in patient care areas.
  • Successful candidates must undergo a pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of experience in pre-hospital EMS.
- NM licensure as Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)/Paramedic.

Preferred Qualifications:
- NM EMS Paramedic license in good standing.
- National Registry Paramedic certification.
- Minimum of 3 years of field experience in a high-volume EMS system, with a preference for 5 years.
- Specialized training in austere, tactical, or operational medicine is advantageous.

Department: Emergency Med Consortium

Employment Type: Staff (On-Call)

Pay: Hourly rate of $31.25

Benefits: Not eligible for benefits.
