Position Overview:


The Lead Sales Tax Specialist is chiefly accountable for ensuring timely and precise compliance with state and local tax regulations while delivering exceptional internal customer support to our field and corporate teams.

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and submit state and local sales and use tax filings, including the collection and analysis of financial data.
  • Maintain and revise sales tax return documentation and processes.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in general ledger accounts with internal stakeholders.
  • Reconcile sales and use tax general ledger accounts monthly.
  • Address sales tax inquiries from internal stakeholders and tax authorities.
  • Register, renew, and terminate sales tax permits at various governmental levels.
  • Enhance and sustain knowledge of sales tax laws and regulations in designated states.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and cost efficiencies.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Taxation is required.
  • CPA or CMI certification is preferred, or candidates pursuing CPA/CMI are encouraged to apply.
  • 2 to 5+ years of experience in multi-state sales and use tax compliance is essential. Experience in the foodservice or support services sector is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, particularly Excel; Access experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with SAP and sales tax compliance software is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills are necessary.
  • Ability to discern trends through data analysis and work orders.
  • Capability to independently research issues and resolve them effectively.
  • Detail-oriented team player with a robust work ethic.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage substantial electronic data.
  • Adept at thriving in a fast-paced environment and adapting to changing priorities.
  • Willingness to work extended hours as needed to meet deadlines.
