Your Role in Our Success
The Senior Sales Tax Accountant plays a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with state and local tax regulations while delivering exemplary internal support to our operational teams. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit state and local sales and use tax filings, including thorough financial data analysis.
- Maintain and revise sales tax return documentation and processes.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in general ledger accounts in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Conduct monthly reconciliations of sales and use tax accounts.
- Address sales tax inquiries from internal teams and tax authorities.
- Manage the registration, renewal, and cancellation of sales tax permits across various jurisdictions.
- Enhance knowledge of sales tax regulations pertinent to assigned states.
- Identify opportunities for process enhancements and cost efficiencies.
- Support special projects as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Taxation is essential.
- CPA or CMI certification is preferred, or candidates pursuing these credentials are welcome.
- 2 to 5+ years of experience in multi-state sales and use tax compliance is necessary, with a preference for candidates from the foodservice or support services sectors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with Access is advantageous.
- Familiarity with SAP and sales tax compliance software is preferred.
- Strong analytical and accounting skills are required.
- Ability to discern trends through data analysis and operational reports.
- Capability to independently research and resolve issues effectively.
- Detail-oriented team player with a robust work ethic.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational abilities to manage extensive electronic data.
- Adept at thriving in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
- Willingness to work extended hours as necessary to meet deadlines.
