Job OverviewThe Jefferson, Washington D.C. is seeking a seasoned professional to lead the Housekeeping department as Director of Housekeeping. This role oversees the day-to-day operations, implementing processes and procedures to ensure exceptional guest experiences. Key responsibilities include managing the department's operations, maintaining cleanliness standards, conducting inspections, and participating in employee recruitment, training, and development. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years' managerial experience in a luxury hotel, a thorough understanding of housekeeping and laundry operations, and a demonstrated ability to lead a diverse workforce with a passion for service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the Housekeeping department's operations, ensuring seamless execution of daily tasks and maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Participate in the recruitment, training, and development of Housekeeping staff, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Manage financial aspects of the operation, including budgeting, forecasting, purchasing, and inventory controls.
  • Coordinate activities with other hotel departments to enhance guest satisfaction and communication.
  • Responsible for scheduling, payroll, inventory, and other departmental duties.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years' managerial experience in a luxury hotel.
  • Thorough understanding of housekeeping and laundry operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a diverse workforce with a passion for service.
  • Service-oriented style with professional presentation skills.
  • Able to prioritize multiple tasks, exercise good judgment, and handle stress in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Previous union experience is a plus.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel), Opera, and Payroll software.
