Financial Operations Director

The United Nations Foundation seeks a highly skilled Financial Operations Director to lead and direct the accounting and financial reporting activities. This position is responsible for the general ledger, payroll, revenue, billing, accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, audits, and external financial reporting. The position has functional responsibility for maintaining the organization's accounting policies, procedures, and financial controls.

Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Financial Operations Director will support presentations to the board and work closely with the leadership team. This position directs all operational accounting activities of the organization, including but not limited to: general ledger, financial close, cash and banking, expense and revenue accounting, billing, accounts payable and receivable, payroll allocations, grant and other expense reporting.

The Financial Operations Director oversees revenue recognition, billing to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components, including: billing, cash receipts application, grant administration. This position oversees all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to ensure compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.

Maintaining robust internal controls and safeguards for all financial operations and reporting activities is a key responsibility of this position. The Financial Operations Director guides team performance and implements efficiencies. Ensuring prescribed policies, procedures, and schedules are followed is also a key responsibility.

This position requires a Bachelor's degree and CPA certification in current active status. Demonstrated expertise in non-profit financial management and accounting is also required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint) is necessary. Meticulous attention to detail, excellent proofreading skills, and ability to produce documents of high quality while meeting deadlines are essential.

Able to work independently with minimal supervision and maximum collaboration in a team environment, this position requires strong interpersonal skills, creativity, flexibility, organization, and self-motivation. Excellent judgment while operating in a flexible and professional manner is also required.
