Position Overview:

In the Strategic Communications department, this role is pivotal in orchestrating the development of diverse content through innovative and technical approaches.

This position encompasses responsibilities such as photography, videography, video editing, social media management, and website content updates, alongside meticulous organizational and administrative tasks.

Success in this role demands a keen eye for detail, an eagerness to engage with others, and a robust set of creative skills.

Key Responsibilities:
- Capture high-quality photography and videography assets across the College, including students, staff, events, and facilities, sometimes beyond standard business hours.

- Edit, upload, and systematically organize final content pieces within the department's digital storage in a timely manner.

- Maintain and organize the official library of photo and content assets.


- Demonstrate a strong understanding of current social media trends and effectively translate these into engaging content for Mid Michigan College.

- Develop and schedule social media content, which includes sourcing stories, conducting interviews, editing multimedia assets, and designing graphics.


- Craft marketing content tailored to a diverse audience, including prospective students, current students, faculty, staff, parents, community leaders, and alumni.

- Provide insights on social media engagement metrics to assess and strategize future content initiatives.

- Assist in creating a social media calendar and managing content schedules within project management tools.


- Gather stories from across the College through interviews and draft narratives for review, accompanied by relevant multimedia assets prior to distribution through various channels.

- Proactively seek opportunities to create innovative marketing content that aligns with the College's strategic objectives.

- Support the management of student ambassadors.


- Ensure compliance with accessibility standards, particularly regarding digital content such as alt text and captioning.

- Help maintain a comprehensive media contact list.

- Aid in promoting campus events through various channels including social media, signage, and website updates as needed.

- Contribute to various strategic communications projects as assigned.

- Engage in professional communication during team meetings and with supervisors.

- Actively participate in project management platforms.

- Communicate effectively with clients regarding departmental processes, project timelines, and inquiries.

- Exercise sound judgment in escalating questions, concerns, and issues to supervisors.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


- Proficient understanding of social media posting requirements, including media formats and optimal content production.

- Familiarity with tools like Hootsuite or similar platforms.

- Strong skills in photo and video editing, particularly within Adobe Creative Cloud.

- Excellent photography, videography, writing, and communication abilities.

- Capability to operate behind the camera and guide others through the process.

- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

- Capacity to meet deadlines and maintain punctuality in task completion.

- Proficiency in managing multiple projects and priorities.

- Willingness to collaborate, accept feedback, and adapt in a professional environment.

Education and Experience:
- A Bachelor's degree or an Associate degree with relevant experience is preferred.

Working Environment:


The responsibilities of this position are carried out in an office setting that necessitates a professional demeanor, punctual attendance, and reliability.

The environment is generally comfortable with minimal discomfort from heat, cold, or dust, and is typically quiet.

Occasional travel to other college locations for meetings or training may be required.

Responsibilities may involve periods of physical activity, including walking, standing, sitting, bending, and lifting materials or equipment.


Meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy is essential, and the role may involve navigating challenging situations.

The standard work schedule is from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with flexibility required based on departmental needs.
