Position Overview

Nuvance Health operates a comprehensive network of hospitals and outpatient facilities, alongside numerous primary and specialty care practices. This role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care across our healthcare system.

Sign-On Bonus: $15,000 for eligible external candidates.

Role Summary:
Assists the Director of Patient Care Services in the formulation, execution, and assessment of the patient care delivery framework and associated nursing standards, collaborating closely with the nursing leadership team. This position is accountable for the overall quality of patient care and provides leadership, strategic planning, coordination, management, and evaluation of the unit. Ensures alignment with the organization's strategic objectives regarding quality, financial performance, employee engagement, and patient satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Develops, organizes, and assesses nursing practice standards within the unit.
2. Maintains 24/7 accountability for personnel supervision, facilitating optimal patient care through efficient resource utilization.
3. Mentors and coaches staff, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment to achieve high-quality services and employee engagement.
4. Reinforces training requirements, ensuring all team members complete necessary training within specified timelines.
5. Leads departmental goal achievement and supports the Director in reaching strategic growth objectives.
6. Manages departmental finances effectively to ensure optimal use of financial resources, demonstrating analytical skills to support business decisions.
7. Promotes interdisciplinary communication for effective departmental operations, collaborating with physicians and other organizational leaders.
8. Ensures compliance with regulatory standards through established policies and practices, identifying opportunities for performance improvement and patient safety.
9. Cultivates an environment that promotes service excellence and serves as a role model for staff and patient interactions.
10. Encourages open communication and ensures regular information sharing for effective operations and positive employee relations.
11. Commits to personal and professional development, maintaining current knowledge in the nursing field and collaborating with the Department of Professional Development to create educational programs.
12. Supports nursing leadership and staff participation in shared governance and acts as a mentor in understanding this model.
13. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing or an advanced degree required (or completion within two years). A Master's degree in Nursing or related fields is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of three years of relevant clinical experience, with at least two years in a leadership role. Nursing certification in leadership or a related specialty is preferred. Membership in a healthcare/nursing professional organization is advantageous.
Licensure: Valid RN license in New York and Connecticut, as applicable.

Working Conditions:
Essential manual skills and coordination are required, with some occupational risks. The role may involve sedentary/light effort, with the potential to exert up to 10 lbs. of force and some exposure to various environmental factors.
