The Medical Assistant is responsible for preparing the patient and examination area effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Welcome patients and escort them from the waiting area to the clinical space. Conduct necessary intake procedures and document vital signs, current medications, and allergies, ensuring the electronic medical record (EMR) is accurate.
  2. Record and update patient information in the medical records, including demographic details and medical history as provided by the patient.
  3. Perform clerical duties related to patient care, including organizing patient charts for healthcare providers and completing necessary paperwork.
  4. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the EMR Orders Reconciliation process.
  5. Ensure cleanliness and proper stocking of the examination area after each patient visit and conduct regular environmental checks.
  6. Prepare patients for their scheduled appointments, ensuring all necessary clinical paperwork and supplies are readily available.
  7. Assist with in-office testing as directed by the healthcare provider and coordinate with external services as needed.
  8. Collect and process specimens as instructed, ensuring accurate logging of results in the patient record.
  9. Manage inventory and ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of medical equipment and supplies.
  10. Provide guidance and training to new colleagues regarding office procedures and techniques.
  11. Conduct audits as assigned by the supervisor.
  12. Demonstrate and uphold competencies related to in-office surgical procedures, including setup and patient care under RN supervision.
  13. Engage with patients and colleagues in alignment with Nuvance Health's service excellence standards.
  14. Adhere to all compliance responsibilities associated with the role.
  15. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications: A High School diploma or GED is required. Candidates should be recent graduates of a Medical Assistant program, Nursing Assistant training, or possess EMT certification, or have three years of relevant experience in a medical office. Basic medical knowledge and terminology are essential, along with proficiency in obtaining accurate vital signs. A minimum of one year of experience is required. CPR Certification is mandatory. Preferred: Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply. Salary: Competitive hourly rate based on relevant experience.
