Job Overview:
As the initial point of contact for Kaiser Permanente members and patients, the Patient Services Coordinator plays a vital role in guiding individuals through the registration process with minimal supervision. This position emphasizes the importance of understanding and addressing the needs of members and patients, fostering strong relationships through effective communication and empathy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a representative of Kaiser Permanente, demonstrating professionalism and courtesy in all interactions with patients and members.
  • Facilitate the registration process, ensuring accurate maintenance of member information, including language preferences and communication methods.
  • Assist new members with onboarding materials and navigate through essential forms and documentation.
  • Handle appointment scheduling and provide directions based on clinical notes, ensuring a seamless experience for members.
  • Utilize available resources to assess patient account status and eligibility, addressing complex inquiries regarding benefits and billing.
  • Collect patient financial responsibilities, including copays and outstanding balances, while adhering to cash handling protocols.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of Kaiser Permanente’s services and assist members with online tools and account management.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills during challenging interactions, ensuring adherence to emergency procedures when necessary.
  • Perform advanced account reconciliation tasks, including correcting eligibility issues and validating payments.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned to support the department's objectives.
Qualifications:
Experience:
  • Minimum of two years in a role involving public interaction and clerical duties.
  • At least two years of experience in cash handling or financial reconciliation, with proficiency in using multiple software applications.
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
Skills:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient data entry skills with a focus on accuracy.
  • Basic computer literacy and familiarity with medical office environments.
Work Environment:
This position may require working in a fast-paced medical office setting, which includes interacting with patients in various states of health. The role may involve standing or sitting for extended periods and handling light lifting tasks.
