With interconnected doctors, nurses, specialists, labs, and medical records, patient care is streamlined and effective.

Position Overview:

The Healthcare Service Coordinator operates within the front office of OnPoint Medical Group's clinics. This role is essential for welcoming patients, managing phone inquiries promptly, activating patient files, and guiding patients through established protocols to ensure a seamless visit with healthcare providers. Exceptional customer service is a requirement, as this position often represents the first point of contact for patients.

Key Responsibilities:

The following duties are indicative of the essential functions of the role and do not encompass all peripheral tasks that may be necessary. We reserve the right to modify or adjust the essential and additional functions of the role at any time.

  1. Welcome incoming patients in person or via phone with professionalism and friendliness.
  2. Conduct pre-visit preparations, including contacting patients for updated insurance information, verifying insurance, and updating patient records.
  3. Register new patients and confirm the accuracy of information for existing patients.
  4. Collect co-pays and payments as necessary.
  5. Manage inbound calls to schedule appointments and serve as a liaison to clinical staff for patient inquiries.
  6. Perform administrative tasks to ensure a smooth patient visit, timely billing processing, and an organized front office.
  7. Make outbound calls to patients for appointment scheduling.
  8. Strive to meet or exceed established service standards.
  9. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  10. Exhibit punctuality and regular attendance as a core responsibility.
  11. Follow directives and respond to management guidance.
  12. Collaborate effectively within a team while completing assigned tasks independently.

Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, an individual must be able to fulfill each essential duty satisfactorily. Minimum Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient computer skills are essential.

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • Some college education with a focus on medical, business, or accounting.
  • Experience in customer service.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a business office or clinical setting.
  • Bilingual candidates are preferred.
  • Experience with EMR systems, particularly Athenahealth, is advantageous.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not include supervisory duties.

Job Elements and Working Conditions:

  • Regularly required to stand, use hands for handling tasks, reach with arms, and communicate verbally.
  • Occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move more than 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
