JOB SUMMARY

This position is integral to Operations, focusing on overseeing and managing the functions related to logistics and delivery. Responsibilities encompass collaborative leadership of delivery supervisory personnel, specific guidance to drivers, route management, safety protocols, and compliance adherence.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversees the daily operations and safety of delivery personnel, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures, adherence to designated routes, and the provision of safe and efficient customer service.
  • Evaluates real-time and historical data to guarantee precision in maintaining optimal delivery strategies and timely customer service.
  • Manages labor hours and directs workforce activities to remain within budgetary constraints.
  • Proposes work schedules, including modifications to stops, classifications, customer operational hours, and expectations, and communicates necessary changes to the relevant parties.
  • Supervises the effective selection and utilization of company resources in support of the logistics department.
  • Coordinates necessary repairs with appropriate departments as required.
  • Reviews delivery productivity reports and communicates findings to the relevant supervisor for assessment and action.
  • Suggests efficiency improvements, cost-saving measures, and assists in the implementation of changes in delivery operations.
  • Interprets, instructs, and consistently applies company policies, protocols, and procedures, including but not limited to food safety, DOT regulations, record-keeping, performance expectations, and safe operational methods.
  • Maintains communication with Sales Management and Marketing Associates to collaboratively address any customer or delivery challenges.
  • Proactively engages with drivers to ensure successful adherence to daily delivery schedules and departmental performance objectives.
  • Collaborates with Transportation Road Supervisors and Safety Trainers to ensure consistent training, conduct associate evaluations, update preferred work methods, and perform timely accident investigations to identify root causes, alongside routine safety inspections.
  • Possesses proficient keyboarding skills.
  • Utilizes standard reporting tools.
  • Creates specific ad hoc reports to pinpoint areas for enhancement.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
EDUCATION
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Preferred: Two or four-year college degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
EXPERIENCE
  • One to three years of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

  • Ability to effectively engage and lead discussions and meetings with individuals and teams.
  • Capable of collaborating with peers and associates from various departments in a proactive and constructive manner.
  • Ability to resolve practical issues and manage a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formats.
  • Working knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • Ability to apply all relevant policies consistently, timely, and objectively.
  • Ability to work in a disciplined manner, adhering to established procedures and complying with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Ability to manage pressures and stress associated with a deadline-oriented environment and customer service challenges.
  • Demonstrates skill in making independent decisions in alignment with company policies and procedures in a timely manner.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to compose reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software, with the ability to learn Sysco technology software and programs.
  • Must possess excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, write, and speak English proficiently.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS
  • Completion of a Sysco-approved defensive driving program.
  • HazMat certification preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone.
  • The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
