DIVISION OVERVIEW


The Fiscal Services Division is tasked with safeguarding the financial resources of the State of California and providing essential financial insights to the Executive Team for effective management of the Agency's initiatives.

Each year, the Fiscal Services Division collaborates with an independent accounting firm to conduct audits of the Agency's financial records.

The division consists of several units:
Operating, Budgets and Insurance, Financial Reporting and Bond Administration, Single Family Accounting, Multifamily Accounting, and Special Projects Unit.

The Special Projects Unit handles unique assignments that do not fall under the purview of the Single-Family or Multifamily Accounting Units.


POSITION SUMMARY


Under the general supervision of the Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor), the Financial Accounting Specialist performs professional accounting functions requiring a solid understanding of general accounting principles and practices, including General Ledger activities, account reconciliations, cash management, and mortgage loan administration.

Desirable Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Prior experience in a similar accounting role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with accounting software such as Quickbooks, Oracle, or GP.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Attention to detail for accuracy.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Good time management skills.
