Position: Financial Operations Specialist

Organization: Social and Public Art Resource Center (SPARC)

Summary: SPARC is on the lookout for a skilled in-house Financial Operations Specialist to oversee financial management and accounting processes within a non-profit framework. This role will involve close collaboration with the Operations Director, CEO, CFO, and Finance Committee to ensure effective data management, financial reporting, and budget oversight.

Work Structure: This is a full-time position requiring on-site presence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate financial planning and budget oversight for the organization and individual projects.
  • Establish and maintain a robust system of controls over financial transactions, including policies and adherence to deadlines.
  • Ensure the accuracy and promptness of financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, employee expenses, and cash management.
  • Oversee accounts receivable to guarantee timely management of all components, including grant billings and cash receipts.
  • Support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing processes.
  • Enhance internal accounting policies and ensure compliance.
  • Monitor project budgets and expenditures, generating monthly financial reports.
  • Prepare essential financial data for annual audits and tax reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting with relevant coursework or 5 years of equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years in non-profit finance/accounting.
  • CPA certification is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of finance, accounting principles, and US GAAP.
  • Experience with accounts payable, receivable, and project accounting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to prepare financial statements and reports.
  • Proficiency in Quickbooks Online and other accounting software.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
