Position Overview

As the Senior Vice President of Western Energy Solutions, you will spearhead and oversee Invenergy's origination initiatives across the Western region, which encompasses various markets including WECC, SPP, ERCOT, and CAISO. This role involves nurturing, expanding, and strengthening utility customer relationships with the ultimate goal of securing offtake agreements, including Power Purchase Agreements for both new and existing projects, as well as Build Transfer Agreements and Development Transfer Agreements for new initiatives. You will collaborate closely with Invenergy's development, regulatory affairs, and strategic teams to formulate and execute market strategies. Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President of Origination, this position is ideal for a driven team leader with extensive industry knowledge and experience. Expect approximately 25% travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and nurture relationships with utility clients, particularly at senior management levels.
  • Devise marketing and sales strategies aimed at executing Power Purchase Agreements for both new and existing projects, as well as Build Transfer and Development Transfer Agreements.
  • Lead and facilitate contract negotiations with a clear commercial strategy and risk management approach.
  • Manage a team of Originators and support personnel to ensure comprehensive customer engagement, including responses to RFPs and bilateral sales.
  • Collaborate with development, finance, engineering, and other departments to create tailored solutions for clients, including assisting in proposal development and pricing strategies.
  • Formulate strategies and business cases for new project developments in partnership with other teams.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of power markets and regulatory developments that impact clients and projects.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations for both internal and external stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Over 10 years of experience in the energy sector, showcasing expertise in sales, commercial deal structuring, and negotiations.
  • In-depth knowledge of transmission and power markets, with experience in WECC, SPP, ERCOT, and/or CAISO.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Willingness to travel more than 25% of the time.

Preferred Skills:

  • MBA or a similar advanced degree.
  • Experience in renewable energy project development.
  • Experience in renewable energy project management or construction.
  • Strong organizational, networking, leadership, and time management abilities.
  • Excellent public speaking and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
  • A collaborative leader and team player committed to achieving results.

Salary Range: $215,000 - $260,000
