Job Overview:

The Community Engagement and Education Coordinator will collaborate with the Foundation & Education team to strengthen Firstmark's outreach and educational initiatives, serving as a representative between the credit union, the Foundation, and the community. This position involves assisting in the planning and execution of signature events, representing the organization at community gatherings, and responding to inquiries from community partners.

Key Duties:
  • Assist the Foundation & Education Relationships Manager in fostering connections with educational institutions within the credit union's service area; serve as a point of contact for school districts and local educational organizations to facilitate credit union participation.
  • Coordinate with businesses and non-profit organizations that support educational initiatives, including vendor-like events, community fairs, and back-to-school activities.
  • Contribute to community relations efforts by helping to plan, organize, and implement events that benefit the credit union, Foundation, and educational community. Responsibilities include outreach calls, securing vendors and sponsors, and managing event logistics.
  • Support the planning and execution of Firstmark Foundation Signature events alongside the Foundation & Education Relationships Manager.
  • Assist the VP of Impact & Marketing with the preparation of board meeting materials, including minutes and follow-up actions.
  • Monitor program outcomes and prepare reports on activities for the VP of Impact & Marketing on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Collaborate with various internal departments and external partners to enhance volunteer and member experiences.
  • Ensure that the credit union's participation in sponsored events aligns with brand standards, promoting a positive image of both the credit union and the Foundation.
  • Represent the credit union/Foundation at select events and coordinate volunteer staffing, working with HR and Communications for effective messaging.
  • Analyze challenges and anticipate potential obstacles, contributing to contingency planning with minimal supervision.
  • Communicate effectively with external stakeholders through various channels, ensuring correspondence aligns with brand voice and guidelines.
  • Engage with all departments to gain a comprehensive understanding of the organization and support business development initiatives.
  • Manage inventory of promotional materials for the Foundation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • A four-year degree in Education, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field is preferred, or 2-3 years of relevant experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in event planning or support is preferred.
  • Public speaking experience in large group settings is required.
  • Strong customer service and time management skills are essential.
  • Excellent writing abilities.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, proactively solve problems, and maintain organization.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, for community and business development events.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs with assistance for marketing materials.
  • Fieldwork will constitute 30% of responsibilities, with 70% performed in the office.
  • Reliable transportation is necessary.
  • Bilingual candidates are preferred.
