Software Release Management Specialist

The Configuration Management Lead is responsible for overseeing the systematic organization, integration, and upkeep of software products throughout their entire lifecycle. This role is crucial in ensuring effective management, documentation, and deployment of software modifications. The ideal candidate should have a robust background in software configuration management practices, tools, and methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and execute software configuration management strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Administer and sustain version control systems, including branching, merging, and labeling.
  • Supervise build and release processes to guarantee dependable and reproducible software builds.
  • Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to facilitate seamless software deployment and integration.
  • Monitor and audit software configurations to ensure adherence to company standards.
  • Enhance and maintain automated build and deployment pipelines.
  • Track and report on configuration management metrics and KPIs.
  • Diagnose and resolve configuration-related challenges.
  • Provide training and support on SCM tools and best practices.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation of configuration management activities and artifacts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Software Configuration Manager or in a comparable role.
  • In-depth knowledge of configuration management tools such as Git, Subversion, and Perforce.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Bamboo, and Azure DevOps.
  • Familiarity with SDLC methodologies, including Agile and DevOps.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in Configuration Management such as CMII or ITIL.
  • Experience with scripting languages like Python and Shell.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
