Department Overview

PG&E IT is a cohesive organization that integrates various departments working collaboratively to design, deliver, and manage high-quality technological solutions. The Grid and Control Center technology department is currently undergoing a significant transformation journey, implementing systems such as ADMS (Advanced Distribution Management System) and DERMS (Distributed Energy Resource Management System), while also supporting and maintaining legacy applications within the Electric distribution, transmission, and Gas sectors to achieve defined business objectives.

Position Summary

This role oversees the IT solutions, development, delivery, and operational management of PG&E system applications, including ADMS. The manager directs teams responsible for solution and portfolio strategy, business architecture, requirements definition, program and project delivery, application development, quality assurance, and ongoing maintenance support. This position ensures that the IT strategy, services, investment decisions, and delivery processes align with the business units and the overarching enterprise IT goals.

Compensation Information

PG&E provides a salary range that reflects the company's good faith belief regarding compensation for this position at the time of posting. The actual salary will depend on various factors, including specific skills, education, certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. The anticipated salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $140,000.00

Bay Area Maximum: $238,000.00

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze portfolio performance and recommend adjustments to investment strategies to meet objectives; utilize reporting tools to monitor activities and provide updates to IT and business leaders.
  • Ensure the successful implementation of new or enhanced systems within budget and timeline constraints.
  • Manage operational support and maintenance for system applications, potentially providing 24/7 support.
  • Review and recommend sourcing strategies for projects, collaborating with business units and IT personnel to prioritize resources based on business objectives.
  • Act as a liaison for information flow between departmental teams and the broader IT and business community, ensuring effective issue resolution.
  • Assess risks and execute plans to mitigate them.
  • Conduct analyses of asset deployment and lifecycle management, evaluating risks associated with portfolio components.
  • Communicate and advocate for the requirements necessary to execute the IT portfolio.
  • Develop and manage service level agreements with business partners.
  • Coordinate and communicate goals and processes essential for implementing the portfolio and critical projects.
  • Ensure compliance with standards, regulations, and governance processes.
  • Ensure staff have the necessary resources and skills to support all projects.
  • Establish individual and departmental objectives aligned with organizational goals, implementing best practices for staffing, diversity, performance management, and retention.
  • Manage the identification, analysis, valuation, and execution of system investments for project delivery and operational support.
  • Collaborate with other teams to share concepts and leverage insights across portfolios.
  • Supervise a team of technical, professional, and supervisory employees involved in designing, developing, testing, and deploying application systems.
  • Provide performance feedback and guidance to staff, establishing development plans.
  • Achieve results through effective communication of goals and metrics, monitoring progress, and providing ongoing coaching.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • B.A./B.S. degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in programming/systems analysis, project management, or IT strategy planning.

Desired Qualifications:

  • M.S. or M.B.A. degree in business administration or computer science.
  • Leadership experience in the utility industry, particularly in IT operations.
  • Experience supporting Grid and Control Center Operations for applications such as OMS, ADMS, SCADA, or EMS.
  • Familiarity with SLA management processes and collaboration with IT vendors.
  • Experience working with enterprise infrastructure support teams.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Proven capability to manage budgets effectively.
  • Experience navigating complex organizational challenges.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and application deployment technologies.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • ITIL certification or experience in an ITIL-based environment.
  • Experience in Lean Management Systems.
  • Ability to influence business leadership and drive change acceptance.
