Position Overview:
GRID Alternatives is seeking a dedicated Financial Operations Manager to join our team. This role will report directly to the Controller and will be based in our Oakland office with a hybrid work model.

Key Responsibilities:
The Financial Operations Manager will play a crucial role in supporting GRID's mission by:

  • Assisting the Controller in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in compliance with US GAAP for a multi-entity organization.
  • Overseeing the preparation of financial statements, including the statement of financial position, statement of activities, and statement of cash flows.
  • Collaborating with the Controller to ensure timely and accurate audited financials, including managing supporting documentation.
  • Supervising accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, job costing, and program cost management.
  • Ensuring reconciliation of financial position accounts with supporting schedules.
  • Preparing consolidation elimination entries and reconciliations for consolidated financials.
  • Assisting in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Documenting business processes and accounting policies to enhance internal controls.
  • Identifying opportunities for process and system improvements.
  • Training and developing the accounting team.
  • Performing additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:
Candidates should possess the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting; advanced degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a managerial accounting role.
  • Experience with ERP accounting systems; familiarity with Sage Intacct is advantageous.
  • Experience with national or large audit firms.
  • Knowledge of multi-entity and consolidation accounting.
  • Proven leadership and training experience with accounting teams.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and proactive approach.
  • Experience in nonprofit, renewable energy, or construction sectors is a plus.
  • CPA and/or CMA certification is desirable.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Work Environment:
This position offers a hybrid work model with occasional travel to regional offices for special projects and team-building activities.
