Position Overview:
The Junior Project Engineer plays a vital role in supporting various aspects of construction management within the electrical contracting sector. This position involves collaboration on projects that may serve a range of governmental clients, ensuring effective execution of tasks throughout the designated project areas.

The Junior Project Engineer will assist in the development of project plans, relevant specifications, and will provide essential support to senior project management teams.

This role may require occasional travel to different job sites within the assigned region. A company vehicle and fuel card will be made available for this purpose.


Note: There are multiple client site locations requiring support, with occasional visits to the main office.

Sturgeon Electric operates through two divisions, specializing in both power line construction and commercial/industrial electrical projects, positioning itself as a full-service electrical contractor.

The Commercial and Industrial (C&I) division focuses on large-scale electrical installations, telecommunications, traffic signal systems, gas distribution, and high voltage service and maintenance.

Sturgeon Electric is experienced in utilizing Integrated Lean Project Delivery methods and offers pre-construction services, in-house prefabrication, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interpret and analyze construction drawings.
  • Assist in reviewing plans and specifications, creating checklists for contract features requiring attention.
  • Compile a list of items that subcontractors must submit for approval before commencing work.
  • Support cost estimation and project scheduling as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate project records.
  • Assist in preparing statements of work, submittals, change management documentation, and daily/weekly reports.
  • Promote safety practices in construction operations and ensure adherence to safety regulations.
  • Inspect equipment, materials, workmanship, and completed construction.
  • Monitor work progress in the field to ensure compliance with procedures and specifications.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential functions of this role will be carried out in designated office or field locations. Adherence to the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy, along with industry-specific professional standards, is expected.


Candidate Profile:

Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial electrical operations or general construction.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field; equivalent education and experience may be considered.

Skills:
- Proficient in reading blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Project and/or Primavera at an intermediate level or higher.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.


Compensation and Benefits:

Salary range: $70,000 - $92,000 per year, commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Salary ranges are provided in good faith, with the company reserving the right to adjust based on candidate qualifications.
