Role Summary

The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in the engineering and design of system protection and control for transmission and substation projects, specifically within the voltage range of 34 kV to 230 kV. Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating detailed one-line diagrams, elementary drawings, wiring schematics, and panel layouts related to protection, metering, controls, and communication systems.
  • Planning and organizing work to develop comprehensive engineering and design scopes, including outage sequencing and preliminary diagrams for protection and communication.
  • Leading teams in the area of Electric System Protection, conducting studies, developing plans, and creating specifications and design documents.
  • Providing technical guidance for strategic and operational decisions, while participating in the development and application of internal and industry standards.
  • Mentoring and training junior engineers and team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and execute specialized engineering assignments that require advanced expertise.
  • Manage engineering tasks for critical projects, including field testing and troubleshooting.
  • Evaluate and implement projects with significant financial and operational implications.
  • Engage in departmental planning, including site assessments and performance monitoring.
  • Act independently on assignments and lead multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and provide expert opinions as necessary.
  • Offer recommendations to enhance performance and cost efficiency.
  • Facilitate technical training and mentorship for peers and junior staff.
  • Participate in industry committees to stay abreast of new technologies and trends.

Job Scope

  • Deliver engineering designs for transmission and substation projects focused on system protection.
  • Develop and review engineering documentation, including equipment specifications.
  • Utilize system analysis software for modeling and protective relay settings.
  • Prepare and program intelligent electronic devices and develop communication protocols.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure compliance with project standards.
  • Provide technical support to construction and commissioning teams.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, offering guidance to engineers and field personnel.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a Professional Engineer's License.
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Ability to analyze complex electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply advanced engineering principles to solve complex problems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Engineering or related fields.
  • Professional Engineer's License.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with analysis software such as MATLAB and Python.
