Position Overview

The Lead Project Engineer is a pivotal figure in orchestrating and overseeing the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases of Tolmar's capital initiatives (CAPEX) related to manufacturing operations, utilities, and facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and execute a portfolio of both large and small-scale projects concurrently, guiding them from the initial project scope and design documentation through to the successful completion of all construction, commissioning, qualification, and validation (CQV) processes.

Direct the development of project plans, which includes preparing and reviewing project proposals, defining objectives, establishing budgets, outlining scopes, detailing user requirements, creating functional specifications, setting timelines, identifying deliverables, establishing milestones, conducting risk assessments, and clarifying roles and responsibilities.

Act as the primary liaison for capital projects, ensuring that critical initiatives are achieved and that key milestones are delivered on schedule.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ascertain project requirements that will inform the design process.

Proactively oversee project scope, schedule, and budget management, ensuring effective tracking of costs.

Facilitate communication and leadership among cross-functional teams at various organizational levels to drive results.

Interpret P&ID diagrams and understand sequencing implications.

Identify potential project risks and contribute to the formulation of mitigation strategies in partnership with project teams and stakeholders.

Assist in the creation of strategic, long-term, and annual capital plans for the site.

Fulfill project engineering duties in alignment with the organization's objectives, policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.

Additional Duties

Undertake special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Proven ability to manage contractors, vendors, and architectural and engineering firms.

Comprehensive understanding of plant utility systems, HVAC, clean room environments, and sanitary equipment.

Capacity to thrive in a dynamic environment with competing priorities and deadlines.

Expertise in project controls management.

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Ability to collaborate effectively within a team to address complex technical and engineering challenges.

Familiarity with software applications such as Microsoft Office/Tools and basic AutoCAD skills.

Proficient in project management and presentation tools (e.g., MS Project, Excel), report writing, and delivering oral presentations.

Knowledge of regulatory compliance guidelines relevant to pharmaceutical manufacturing, including FDA, OSHA, and EPA standards.

Understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, technologies, and cGMP regulations.

Education & Experience

A Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related scientific discipline is required.

A minimum of 10 years of experience managing capital projects in industrial, manufacturing, or pharmaceutical settings, including laboratories, clean rooms, and modifications to HVAC, compressed gases, and water systems.

Knowledge of mechanical construction is advantageous.

Familiarity with cGMPs and related manufacturing facilities, technologies, and documentation is essential.

Experience with project management life cycle methodologies and standards is preferred.

Experience in the pharmaceutical sector is highly desirable.

Work Environment

Work may be conducted in field construction sites, laboratories, offices, utilities, and manufacturing environments.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: Competitive compensation ranging from $140,000 to $150,000, commensurate with experience.

Eligible for bonuses and relocation assistance.
