Position Overview:
Join HNTB's dynamic aviation planning team, where we seek a driven individual with exceptional analytical and communication abilities, coupled with a strong enthusiasm for aviation. This role is pivotal in managing our extensive portfolio of aviation planning initiatives at some of the most prominent airports in the nation.

Key Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive experience in various aviation planning sectors, including but not limited to:
- Landside operations
- Terminal management
- Airside logistics
- Economic analysis
- Environmental considerations

This position offers flexibility in location across multiple HNTB offices.

Core Duties:
In this role, you will be responsible for implementing planning methodologies using diverse technologies and tools to collect and evaluate data, assess results, and create reports and visuals that effectively convey insights. Your tasks will encompass:

  • Conducting research, studies, and documentation for planning projects.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams from project inception to completion.
  • Overseeing the technical execution of planning assignments and potentially serving as a Project Manager for select medium to large-scale projects.
  • Coordinating with project managers, designers, and other disciplines on complex transportation planning, urban design, or landscape architecture projects to ensure adherence to client specifications.

What You Will Do:
With minimal supervision, you will undertake a variety of complex professional planning responsibilities, including:

  • Writing and reviewing significant sections of plans, studies, reports, and environmental documents.
  • Leading the production of technical reports, work plans, scopes of work, and responses to Requests for Proposals.
  • Managing budgets, invoicing, and billing processes.
  • Facilitating public and stakeholder engagement, presenting information to community members.
  • Providing mentorship and guidance to junior staff.
  • Coordinating with clients, sub-consultants, and internal teams to ensure task completion.
  • Recommending improvements to processes and systems for enhanced efficiency and service delivery.
  • Supporting strategic planning and special projects as needed.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Environmental Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Geography, or a related field with 10 years of relevant experience, or
  • A Master's Degree in the aforementioned fields with 9 years of relevant experience.

What You Will Bring:
As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Direct and oversee technical work for a diverse range of airport planning and preliminary design projects.
  • Conduct capacity analyses for airport facilities.
  • Develop concepts and alternative designs using software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and ArcGIS.
  • Prepare technical documentation for airport planning studies.
  • Interpret and manage airport simulation models.
  • Respond promptly to client inquiries.
  • Prepare presentations for stakeholders and the public.
  • Assist in building client relationships and support business development efforts.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level staff members.

Preferred Qualifications:
We prefer candidates with:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Aviation Management, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field with 10 years of experience.
  • Extensive experience in airport planning at major hub airports.
  • Project Management experience focused on profitability.
  • A strong understanding of the aviation sector.
