Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Quantum Hardware Development Engineer to join our team at the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Center for Quantum Computing in Pasadena, CA. As a member of our Test and Measurement group, you will work alongside a multi-disciplinary team of experts in theoretical and experimental physics, materials science, and hardware and software engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop measurement systems for superconducting devices related to qubit performance.
  • Implement efficient measurement protocols and automation techniques to improve data quality and collection rates.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports for dissemination to the research and development team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and improvement in experimental quantum computing.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in physics, applied physics, electrical engineering, engineering physics, or related disciplines.
  • Experience in electronic instrumentation, analog and digital circuitry, and measurement hardware setup.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn new topics as needed and thrive in a collaborative environment.
  • Proficiency in a scientific programming environment (e.g., Python, Mathematica, MATLAB, or similar high-level language).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in physics, applied physics, electrical engineering, engineering physics, or related disciplines.
  • Experience with high-performance test setups and automated data analysis pipelines.
  • 1+ years' experience in microwave/RF circuits.
  • Knowledge of nanoscale superconducting devices and qubits.
  • Understanding of quantum computing, material science, device physics, and cryogenics.
