Position Overview

Role Summary

As a pivotal member of Output Biosciences, you will engage in the development of advanced generative AI systems aimed at enhancing our understanding of diseases and their treatments. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our leadership team to create an AI platform that is deeply integrated with biological knowledge, capable of interpreting intricate biological interactions and proposing innovative therapeutic solutions.

  • You will pioneer novel methodologies to incorporate biological insights into AI frameworks, enhancing key architectural elements to achieve groundbreaking functionalities.
  • You will architect and refine state-of-the-art AI models utilizing extensive and varied biological datasets.
  • You will confront distinctive challenges, including managing extensive context in biological sequences and integrating multi-modal data.
  • You will address complex AI research challenges at scale, focusing on critical areas such as model design, scalability, pre-training and fine-tuning techniques, and thorough evaluation processes.
  • Your contributions will encompass a range of Generative AI architectures, including transformers, autoencoders, GANs, and diffusion models, along with other deep learning frameworks.

Make a significant impact on global health by advancing the frontiers of generative AI.

No prior biological expertise is necessary—we will equip you with the knowledge required.

Candidate Profile

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • A Master's degree with a minimum of 3 years of industry experience or a PhD with at least 2 years of research or industry experience in Machine Learning, Applied Statistics, Computer Science, or similar fields.
  • Proficiency in software development and executing complex experiments using Python with machine learning libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn.
  • Experience in researching and developing deep learning and generative AI techniques.
  • Familiarity with scaling machine learning models in cloud environments.
  • A commitment to producing high-quality, clean, efficient, and maintainable code, with a strong focus on suitable design patterns and software architectures.
  • A proactive problem-solving attitude, taking ownership of challenges and demonstrating pride in overcoming them.
  • A mature approach to navigating ambiguity, helping to clarify questions and make informed decisions amidst uncertainty.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a passion for collaborating with and mentoring colleagues in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • A drive to make a meaningful impact and a dedication to addressing significant challenges with creativity and determination.

Preferred Qualifications

  • First authorship on a publication or peer-reviewed paper in AI conferences.
  • Previous experience applying machine learning techniques in biological or chemical contexts.
  • Knowledge in physics, molecular biology, chemistry, or related disciplines.
  • Experience in developing efficient code in C/C++.
