Position Overview

Role Summary

As a Machine Learning Researcher at Output Biosciences, you will be at the forefront of integrating biological insights into generative AI systems, aiming to transform our understanding of diseases and their treatments. Your expertise will contribute to the development of an AI platform that comprehends intricate biological interactions and proposes groundbreaking therapeutic solutions.

  • You will pioneer novel methodologies to embed biological knowledge into AI frameworks, enhancing key structural elements to achieve extraordinary functionalities.
  • You will architect and refine cutting-edge AI models utilizing extensive and varied biological datasets.
  • You will confront distinctive challenges, including managing extensive contexts in biological sequences and integrating multi-modal data.
  • You will address complex AI research challenges at scale, focusing on crucial components such as model design, scalability, pre-training and fine-tuning techniques, along with rigorous evaluation protocols.
  • Your responsibilities will encompass various Generative AI frameworks, including transformers, autoencoders, GANs, and diffusion models, in addition to other deep learning architectures.

No prior biological expertise is necessary—we will provide the necessary training.

Candidate Profile

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • A Master's degree with 3 years of professional experience or a PhD with 2 years of research or industry experience in Machine Learning, Applied Statistics, Computer Science, or similar fields.
  • Proficiency in software development and executing complex experiments using Python with machine learning libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn.
  • Experience in researching and developing deep learning and generative AI techniques.
  • Familiarity with scaling machine learning models in cloud computing environments.
  • A commitment to producing high-quality, clean, efficient, and maintainable code, with a strong understanding of suitable design patterns and software architectures.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, demonstrating ownership of challenges and a passion for resolution.
  • A mature mindset in uncertain situations, capable of framing questions and seeking clarity while making informed decisions.
  • Strong communication skills, effectively conveying information in both written and verbal formats, and enjoying collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.
  • A drive to make a meaningful impact and a dedication to addressing significant challenges with creativity and determination.

Preferred Qualifications

  • First authorship on a publication or peer-reviewed AI conference paper.
  • Previous experience applying machine learning in biological or chemical contexts.
  • Knowledge in physics, molecular biology, chemistry, or related disciplines.
  • Experience in developing efficient code in C/C++.
