The Opportunity

Become a key player in the advancement of biological reasoning through generative AI, aimed at transforming our understanding of diseases and their treatments. As a Machine Learning Researcher at Output Biosciences, you will collaborate closely with our leadership team to develop an AI platform that comprehensively grasps intricate biological connections and innovates therapeutic solutions.

  • You will pioneer novel methodologies to integrate biological insights into AI frameworks, enhancing core architectural elements to achieve groundbreaking functionalities.
  • You will architect and train cutting-edge AI models utilizing extensive and varied biological datasets.
  • You will confront distinctive challenges, including managing extensive contexts in biological sequences and integrating multi-modal data.
  • You will address complex AI research issues at scale, focusing on critical factors such as model design, scalability, pre-training and fine-tuning techniques, and thorough evaluation practices.
  • Your contributions will encompass a range of Generative AI architectures, including transformers, autoencoders, GANs, and diffusion models, along with other deep learning frameworks.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • A Master's degree with three years of industry experience or a PhD with two years of research or industry experience in Machine Learning, Applied Statistics, Computer Science, or similar fields.
  • Proficiency in software development and executing intricate experiments using Python, along with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn.
  • Experience in researching and developing deep learning and generative AI techniques.
  • Familiarity with scaling machine learning models in cloud computing environments.
  • A commitment to producing high-quality, clean, efficient, and maintainable code, with a strong focus on appropriate design patterns and software architectures.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, demonstrating ownership of challenges and a dedication to resolving them.
  • A mature mindset in uncertain situations, capable of framing questions and seeking clarity while making informed decisions.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a passion for collaborating and guiding colleagues in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • A drive to make a meaningful impact and a commitment to addressing significant challenges with creativity and determination.

Preferred Qualifications

  • First authorship on a publication or peer-reviewed AI conference paper.
  • Previous experience applying machine learning in biological or chemical contexts.
  • Knowledge in physics, molecular biology, chemistry, or related disciplines.
  • Experience in developing efficient code in C/C++.
