Student Retention Coordinator

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Retention within Student Affairs, we are currently seeking a dedicated Retention Specialist/Cohort Tracker.
Key Responsibilities
The Retention Specialist/Cohort Tracker is responsible for monitoring and supporting students within six-year graduation cohorts, ensuring their registration, financial status, and academic progress are on track.
Data Analysis and Outreach
This role involves analyzing undergraduate student data to strategize outreach efforts, collaborate with campus partners, and develop impactful interventions based on proven practices.
Liaison Role
The Retention Specialist/Cohort Tracker acts as a crucial link between students, advisors, and campus partners, assisting in the review of data and trends for students who may stop out, transfer, or graduate beyond the typical four-year timeline.
Specific Duties Include:
- Analyzing student data from various systems to identify trends that may hinder achieving the six-year graduation goal.
- Sharing relevant insights with campus stakeholders.
- Utilizing campus resources and technologies to compile student data, particularly for those at risk of academic failure or not meeting graduation requirements.
- Designing communication strategies and intervention templates for Academic Advisors and campus partners to enhance graduation rates.
- Creating reports and spreadsheets for advisors and retention team members to track student status and trends.
- Facilitating meetings to discuss findings from student success data and recommend departmental support strategies.
- Reviewing academic checkpoints and confirming course schedules for registered students, addressing any discrepancies.
- Building partnerships across various campus departments to support the six-year graduation cohort.
- Collaborating with partner offices to resolve student issues and promote retention.
- Advocating for policy changes based on student data and needs.
- Engaging with advisors through various communication methods to ensure student success.
- Providing assistance to advisors regarding university policies and procedures.
- Maintaining consistent communication with returning students about expectations and policies.
- Contributing to the maintenance and training of relevant software.
- Supporting colleagues with various events and tasks as needed.
- Addressing academic issues related to internships and course requirements for graduating students.
- Communicating complex information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
Qualifications
Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, interpret complex policies, and collaborate with advisors in diverse campus environments. Proven expertise in research methodologies, record keeping, reporting, and evaluation. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in data compilation and analysis. Exceptional customer service and public relations skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree with three years of relevant experience. Additional education may substitute for experience as per the institution's equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in social sciences or higher education administration with five years of related experience.
