POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Tissue Preparation Specialist is responsible for executing various techniques to produce microscopic slides for our Pathologists.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A minimum of twelve (12) months of training from an accredited histology program is preferred. Registration or eligibility with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists is also preferred. A minimum of one (1) year of practical experience in clinical histology is required.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
At least one (1) year of experience in histology is preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language is essential.

- Processes specimens following established protocols in the gross area.
- Accurately identifies patients throughout the accessioning process.
- Inputs and verifies correct patient demographic details from requisitions.
- Conducts tissue embedding procedures.
- Prepares slides and performs staining in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Maintains equipment and reagents as per maintenance schedules.
- Documents all maintenance activities for equipment.
- Troubleshoots equipment and procedures, demonstrating a solid understanding of equipment functions.
- Conducts Quality Control in line with established procedures.
- Strives to meet or exceed quality standards and turnaround times set by our Pathologists.
