Position Overview

The Bridge Family Center is seeking dedicated professionals for full-time and part-time roles as Direct Care Specialists (also known as Youth Coaches) to work with adolescents in DCF Care within our Moving on Project, a transitional living program designed for young males.

Sign-On Bonus: We are pleased to offer a sign-on bonus of $1,000 for full-time positions, $500 for part-time roles (for those regularly scheduled at least 20 hours per week), and $250 for other direct care staff. This bonus will be awarded after three months of employment, contingent upon meeting performance and attendance standards.

Compensation and Benefits: The Bridge Family Center provides competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits, including:

  • Full-Time Employees: Medical/Vision, Dental, Employer-paid life insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts, 403(b) retirement plan with matching contributions, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), 19 days of vacation (increasing annually for the first five years), paid sick leave, personal time, and 8 paid holidays. As a non-profit organization, employees may also qualify for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
  • Part-Time Employees: EAP, prorated vacation and personal time, paid sick leave, paid holidays, and eligibility for a 403(b) retirement plan with matching contributions (benefits may vary based on scheduled hours).

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure a structured and safe environment for residents by maintaining control and daily routines.
  2. Encourage positive interactions among residents and facilitate recreational and leisure activities.
  3. Supervise and assist residents during study sessions and daily living tasks, including cooking and chores.
  4. Provide transportation for residents as necessary.
  5. Conduct regular apartment inspections.
  6. Offer crisis intervention and counseling as needed.
  7. Manage intake and discharge processes for residents.
  8. Maintain accurate daily documentation and shift records.
  9. Implement and oversee incentive programs.
  10. Assist in teaching essential life skills to all participants.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or a related field is strongly preferred, along with experience working with at-risk youth. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to establish professional boundaries and build positive relationships with residents. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as effective group facilitation techniques. A valid Connecticut driver's license is required, and candidates must possess or be eligible to obtain certifications in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and Adult First Aid/CPR. Full-time staff must also achieve DCF Medication Administration certification or obtain it post-hire. Part-time or per diem staff should be prepared to secure certification based on program needs.
