Position Overview:

The Central Sterile Technician is essential in ensuring the safety and efficiency of surgical procedures. This role involves the meticulous preparation and management of surgical instruments and supplies, which are critical to supporting the surgical team in various operating environments. You will be responsible for the decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, disinfection, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and packs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform decontamination, preparation, wrapping, and sterilization of surgical instruments and trays.
  • Utilize sterilization equipment, including washers, autoclaves, and Steris machines.
  • Maintain accurate records of instrument condition and manage inventory levels effectively.
  • Adhere to all regulatory standards applicable to the surgical center.
  • Conduct routine testing of sterilization equipment and maintain detailed logs.
  • Monitor environmental conditions in operating suites, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Participate in special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Assist in preparing operating rooms for upcoming procedures, ensuring readiness and safety.
  • Support the surgical team by assisting with patient monitoring and positioning.
  • Provide assistance to anesthesia providers as needed.
  • Ensure operating rooms are stocked with necessary surgical packs for upcoming procedures.
  • Train in additional roles as required, including Instrument Technician duties.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current BLS certification or willingness to obtain within six months of hire.
  • Sterile Processing certification is required.
  • Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain within six months of hire.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in an ambulatory surgical setting.
  • One or more years of relevant experience in an operating room environment.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday - 6am to 4pm.
