About You and this Role

In this position, you will act as a Process Automation Specialist for our operations facility.

Your responsibilities will include supporting ABB and other process control systems on-site. You will also provide troubleshooting assistance and preventative maintenance for the installed base of ABB 800xA and Siemens PCS7 systems. The primary goal is to reduce plant downtime due to automation system failures while delivering cost-effective and sustainable services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently manage and troubleshoot Siemens PCS7 and ABB 800xA process automation systems and their associated networks.
  • Identify and oversee preventative maintenance tasks and health assessments for the systems you support.
  • Provide corrective action in response to control system errors or failures, requiring a consistent presence and rapid response.
  • Engage in project work, including system installation, configuration, design, and development, as well as software and hardware upgrades.
  • Collaborate with plant personnel for troubleshooting, upgrades, and training initiatives.
  • Develop and execute Service Requests to resolve issues, working directly with process control vendors as necessary.
  • Document all significant system incidents, failures, and outages; participate in Root Cause Investigations and implement corrective measures.
  • Manage Cyber Security Elements, including user account access and compliance verification.
  • Coordinate with the global Process Automation organization to address business concerns and track issues.
  • Monitor DCS system diagnostics for aligned site platforms.
  • Participate in risk assessments related to Control System activities.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree or relevant military experience.
  • Experience with Distributed Control Systems is required.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% annually.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including standing, walking, and using basic hand tools.
  • Availability to support the facility during off-hours.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Skills
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or IT.
  • Five or more years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, process automation, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with Siemens PCS7 or ABB 800xA systems.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting network architecture and Distributed Control Systems.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in current hardware and software.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively through strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership, initiative, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and productivity in a collaborative environment.
