About the Role

The Humane Rescue Alliance (HRA) is seeking a seasoned Senior Major Gifts Officer to join our development team in Washington, DC. As a key member of our fundraising team, you will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gifts from individuals to support our mission.

We offer a competitive salary of $90,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement high-performing major gifts strategies in DC, including identifying and pursuing new major gift opportunities.
  • Sustain and grow current donor relationships through regular communication and meaningful stewardship.
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors, development office, and senior leadership to identify and pursue major gift opportunities.
  • Develop and execute plans to expand planned giving efforts, including creating marketing materials and hosting events.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, board members, and community leaders.
  • Report on specialized long-term donor funding according to committed reporting cadence.
  • Manage gift pledges in partnership with the Director of Development Operations.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in development, with a strong record of securing six and seven-figure gifts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic and creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply critical thinking to solve problems in an everyday work setting.
  • Demonstrated facilitation and presentation skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
