Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Sous Chef to join our team at Statue Cruises. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Executive Chef in the safe and efficient management of the galley, crew mess, provisions, and alternative dining functions aboard our vessels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional dining experiences to our guests, ensuring all food production meets established company standards.
  • Manage the storage and distribution of all food items, maintaining accurate inventory and minimizing spoilage.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining practices of progressive cookery throughout the department.
  • Develop and implement recipes and specialty items, including special dietary accommodations.
  • Work closely with the Executive Chef to control costs, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with food safety standards.
  • Lead by example, fostering a culture of teamwork, consistency, and standardization in the galley.
  • Participate in menu planning, theme development, and other events for passengers, officers, and crew.
  • Ensure all food complaints are received and addressed promptly, and necessary recovery steps are taken.
  • Perform other duties as required to achieve results.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • HS Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • Bachelor's degree in culinary field, ACF certification
  • ServeSafe Manager Certification
  • Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) if applicable, and/or ability to obtain and maintain
  • Copy of DD214, if Veteran status
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work professionally with all levels of employee throughout the organization
  • Five years full-service operations experience
  • Experience in supervision and training of employees
  • Cruise industry experience preferred
