Job Summary

The Assistant Director for Community Engagement and Leadership will play a key role in supporting the Department of Housing and Residential Life at Texas State University. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing community development initiatives, supervising staff, and collaborating with campus partners to enhance the residential experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervision and Leadership
    • Supervise and provide guidance to full-time Residence Directors and Resident Assistants.
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to staff.
    • Assist in the recruitment and hiring process for direct reports.
  • Community Engagement Initiatives
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive community engagement model for student residential living.
    • Coordinate campus-wide events and engagement opportunities.
    • Assess and evaluate the effectiveness of community engagement initiatives.
  • Student Advocacy and Outreach
    • Develop and maintain relationships with residents through regular contact and assessment of their needs and concerns.
    • Advocate for students in all aspects of their housing and educational experience.
  • Departmental Administration
    • Participate in 24-hour on-call rotation with live-in professional staff colleagues.
    • Respond to student and facilities issues/crises as a third-tier responder.
    • Maintain accurate incident reports using Maxient Software.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, or related field.
  • 3 years of full-time work experience in student housing.
  • Experience with supervision, community engagement, and student advocacy.
