Position Overview:

Nakupuna Companies is seeking a Certified Splunk Engineer to facilitate the effective implementation of the Splunk Enterprise platform and its associated Add-ons across various applications within the Naval Supply & Systems Command (NAVSUP) Business Systems Center (BSC). This role is critical for ensuring the successful integration of Splunk across all NAVSUP BSC applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Splunk Enterprise software across NAVSUP BSC applications.
  • Conduct technical assessments of log data and database logs to guarantee accurate data collection and formatting.
  • Design and implement a training program for NAVSUP BSC personnel to enhance their proficiency in Splunk operations.
  • Set up and configure essential Add-ons, including Compliance Essentials for Splunk.
  • Develop, refine, and manage dashboards, searches, alerts, pivot tables, data models, and reports for NAVSUP BSC applications.
  • Create comprehensive documentation of all Splunk-related tasks and requirements as specified by stakeholders.
  • Provide regular status updates detailing task progress, resource allocation, and any issues encountered.
  • Document best practices, lessons learned, and standard operating procedures.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess excellent technical, organizational, and communication skills, along with a strong problem-solving aptitude. A minimum of three years of specialized experience in the following areas is required:

  • Certified Splunk Engineer.
  • Advanced knowledge of Splunk configuration and administration.
  • Proficient in developing and troubleshooting Splunk searches, reports, alerts, visualizations, and dashboards.
  • Experience with configuring the Splunk Enterprise app, DB Connect app, Compliance Essentials, and various Splunk Add-ons.
  • Expertise in analyzing log files from diverse information systems.
  • Experience in deploying and configuring Splunk components, including Search servers and Splunk forwarders.
  • Ability to onboard new data sources into Splunk and analyze data for trends.
  • Familiarity with both Linux and Windows environments for maintaining Splunk configurations.
  • Experience collaborating with cybersecurity teams to meet compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of federal regulatory standards.

Education and Certification:

A bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as IT, Engineering, or Computer Science is required. Candidates must also hold a CompTIA Security+ CE certification or an equivalent certification.

Work Environment:

This position allows for remote work with minimal travel requirements. Candidates must be eligible for military installation access and undergo a background investigation.

Physical Requirements:

Applicants should be capable of performing repetitive motions and sitting for extended periods while working on a computer.
