LMI Consulting, LLC is in search of a proficient Cybersecurity Systems Protection Engineer (CSPE) to facilitate initiatives related to modernization efforts within shipyards, contributing to the overarching U.S. Navy strategic enhancement and modernization objectives. Key Responsibilities
  • Establish system security specifications in collaboration with security stakeholders, including system engineers, program managers, security control assessors, and authorizing officials.
  • Ensure that cybersecurity specifications are recognized, allocated, executed, verified, and consistently monitored throughout the system's lifecycle.
  • Provide independent cybersecurity counsel and guidance to government stakeholders and contractor teams.
  • Engage in regular cybersecurity working group meetings.
  • Develop or evaluate system security designs and architectures, including those applicable to IoT or OT devices.
  • Assist in Assessment and Authorization (A&A) cybersecurity evaluations, identify deficiencies, and support risk management strategies for cybersecurity personnel.
  • Facilitate the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process for each product within the portfolio.
  • Offer subject matter expert (SME) level cybersecurity engineering support and insights to product leads and cybersecurity teams to generate authority to operate (ATO) packages and successfully secure ATOs.
  • Support interim authority to test (IATT), risk assessment/acceptance, and all other ATO-related activities.
  • Analyze security control noncompliance to assess the impact on risk levels and the overall effectiveness of the enterprise's cybersecurity program.
  • Collaborate with product teams to identify controls, devise suitable mitigations, and develop and monitor Program of Action and Milestone (POAM) documents to ensure ATO packages are technically robust prior to submission for review.
  • Support essential compliance activities, ensuring adherence to system security configuration guidelines and compliance monitoring.
  • Advise system engineers on optimal methods to remediate vulnerability findings utilizing security scanning tools and best practices from DoD/Industry.
  • Assist in cybersecurity engineering analysis of alternatives, trade-offs, and risk management decisions.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver secure and reliable systems.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in system and/or security engineering in support of U.S. Government clients.
  • Experience in reviewing and developing RMF Assessment and Authorization (A&A) documentation, including System Security Plans (SSPs), Security Assessment Reports (SARs), and Plans of Action and Milestones (POAMs).
  • Experience in implementing DoDI Risk Management Framework for the Department of Defense.
  • Possession of DoD 8570 IASAE Level II baseline certification (CISSP, CCSP, etc.).
  • Must hold and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Desired:

  • Familiarity with Cloud security planning, design, and operations (e.g., Azure, Amazon C2S, Commercial and GovCloud).
  • At least one year of experience in networking and network security.
  • Ability to articulate complex cybersecurity concepts to a diverse audience in layman's terms.
  • Experience in presenting verbal and written communications to senior leadership, including Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSM), System Owners, Authorizing officials, and security leads.
  • Experience with systems engineering lifecycle processes.
  • Proven capability to balance priorities in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
  • Experience with agile frameworks and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) methodologies such as DevOps or DevSecOps.
  • Experience with cloud cybersecurity implementations.
  • DoD 8570 IASAE Level III certification, such as CISSP-ISSAP or CISSP-ISSEP, or the ability to achieve certification at level III within six months of employment.
