Position Overview:
We are actively seeking a Transportation Systems Engineer to join our Traffic Engineering Group. This role is based in our Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania office and involves engaging with our traffic engineering analysis and design teams. The analysis team focuses on operational evaluations, innovative technical solutions, and the preparation of detailed reports and presentations. Meanwhile, the design team is responsible for creating contract documents for traffic signals, signage, roadway markings, traffic management, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) devices.
Key Responsibilities:
Our Traffic Department undertakes projects throughout the mid-Atlantic region and beyond. The work is intellectually stimulating and often at the forefront of traffic engineering practices. Responsibilities include:
- Designing traffic signals, signage, roadway lighting, and work zone traffic control measures.
- Conducting traffic safety and operational studies.
- Utilizing modeling software such as Synchro, SimTraffic, VISSIM, and VISUM.
- Managing project assignments that range from minor intersection enhancements to complex interchange and corridor projects, as well as innovative multimodal transportation plans and parking studies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (B.S.C.E).
- Relevant internship or job experience in transportation engineering.
- Strong oral and written communication skills across all organizational levels.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, along with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- A positive attitude and a collaborative spirit.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is preferred.
