Position Overview:

LMI is seeking a proficient Cybersecurity Systems Protection Specialist to contribute to initiatives associated with modernization efforts within the U.S. Navy. This role is pivotal in enhancing the efficiency of shipyard operations through innovative technological solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with security stakeholders to establish and define system security requirements.
  • Ensure the identification, allocation, implementation, verification, and continuous monitoring of cybersecurity requirements throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Provide independent cybersecurity guidance to government and contractor teams.
  • Engage in regular cybersecurity working group meetings.
  • Develop and review security designs and architectures, including those for IoT and OT devices.
  • Support Assessment and Authorization (A&A) cybersecurity evaluations, identify gaps, and assist in formulating risk management strategies.
  • Contribute to the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process for various products.
  • Offer subject matter expert (SME) level cybersecurity engineering support to product leads and teams to facilitate the creation of authority to operate (ATO) packages.
  • Assist in interim authority to test (IATT) and other ATO-related activities.
  • Analyze security control noncompliance to assess its impact on risk levels and the overall effectiveness of the cybersecurity program.
  • Work with product teams to identify controls, develop mitigations, and manage Program of Action and Milestone (POAM) documents to ensure technical soundness of ATO packages.
  • Support compliance activities and advise on remediation of vulnerability findings using security scanning tools and best practices.
  • Conduct cybersecurity engineering analyses of alternatives and risk treatment decisions.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver secure and reliable systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in system and/or security engineering for U.S. Government clients.
  • Experience in developing RMF Assessment and Authorization documentation, including System Security Plans (SSPs) and Security Assessment Reports (SARs).
  • Familiarity with DoDI Risk Management Framework and possession of DoD 8570 IASAE Level II baseline certification (CISSP, CCSP, etc.).
  • Must hold and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of Cloud security planning and operations, experience with networking and network security, and the ability to communicate complex cybersecurity issues effectively.
  • Experience in presenting to senior leadership and familiarity with systems engineering lifecycle processes.
  • Proven ability to manage priorities in a dynamic environment and experience with agile frameworks and CI/CD practices.
  • Possession of DoD 8570 IASAE Level III certification or the ability to obtain it within 6 months of employment.
