Chief Security Officer

Position Overview:

The Chief Security Officer (CSO) is tasked with formulating and sustaining the overarching vision, strategy, architecture, and a multi-year plan that guarantees the protection of the organization’s information assets. This role is pivotal in articulating security at both strategic and operational levels, promoting security awareness throughout the organization to enhance the adoption of best practices and the understanding of cybersecurity's impact on business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure comprehensive protection of the organization’s information assets.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to evaluate and communicate acceptable risk levels.
  • Identify, assess, and report on information security risks, practices, and initiatives while providing expertise on security standards and best practices.
  • Develop, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of information security professionals.
  • Assist the executive leadership in broadening the understanding of security beyond mere compliance, positioning it as a business advantage.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of current information security policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance of the security management program with relevant laws, regulations, and contractual obligations.
  • Develop and enhance a modern cybersecurity management framework based on established standards.
  • Champion the enterprise information security program and cultivate a culture of security awareness.
  • Manage the evaluation, selection, and implementation of innovative and cost-effective information security solutions.
  • Partner with architecture and infrastructure teams to ensure that technologies are developed and maintained in alignment with security policies.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and manage incident response planning and investigations.
  • Lead efforts in vendor risk management and oversee security considerations in mergers and acquisitions.
  • Implement comprehensive data loss prevention strategies to safeguard sensitive information.
  • Conduct ongoing risk assessments and security audits to identify vulnerabilities and enhance data protection measures.

Qualifications:

  • BA, BS, or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of IT and/or business leadership experience, with at least 5 years in information security.
  • Proven track record in developing security policies, data protection technologies, and successful execution of security strategies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to data protection.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data.
  • Strong communication skills to convey security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA are preferred.
