Midwest Sales Manager for Independent Bookstores

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Regional Sales Manager to join our team at Sourcebooks. As a Regional Sales Manager, you will be responsible for expanding our reach and sales in the independent bookstore market in the Midwest territory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Grow Sales in the Independent Bookstore Market: Develop and execute strategies to increase sales and market share in the independent bookstore market.
  • Represent Sourcebooks in the Field: Represent Sourcebooks in person with sales calls and participate in regional and national trade shows.
  • Establish and Grow Relationships: Establish and grow relationships with key independent bookstores, the American Booksellers Association, and regional independent bookstore associations.
  • Curate Title Lists: Curate individual title lists to fit the unique nature of each bookstore.
  • Inventory Forecasting and Revenue Budgeting: Manage inventory forecasting and revenue budgeting for the Midwest territory.
  • Work with Retail Marketing: Work in partnership with the Retail Marketing department on sales promotions for independent bookstores.
  • Manage Author Events: Manage author events and book signings within the Midwest territory.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 Years Book Publishing Sales Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in book publishing sales, preferably with independent bookstores.
  • Excellent Presentation and Communication Skills: Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Driven and Collaborative Team Player: A driven, goal-oriented, and collaborative team player with high attention to detail.
  • Outgoing and Comfortable with Sales Calls: Outgoing in nature, comfortable navigating sales calls, and proactive in going after new business.
  • Highly Organized and Project Management Skills: Highly organized with the ability to manage many projects at once.
  • Experience in Sales Strategy and Forecasting: Experience in setting and driving sales strategy to meet goals and forecasting and budgeting.
  • Extensive Travel Required: Extensive travel required, including overnight and occasional weekends.
