Job Description

Overview

We are seeking an experienced sales professional to join our team as we establish an internal independent sales force. This position will be responsible for expanding our reach, sales, and market share across the country.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales Growth: Grow sales in the independent bookstore market to exceed sales plans and increase market share.
  • POS Volume: Grow POS volume to assigned goals.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and grow relationships with key independent bookstores, the American Booksellers Association, and regional independent bookstore associations.
  • Catalog Creation: Create curated Edelweiss catalogs for accounts within the territory.
  • Sales Analysis: Provide sales analysis, comp analysis, and create impactful key selling points.
  • Sales Calls: Conduct virtual sales calls with virtual follow-up.
  • Account Management: Manage transactional account orders and business.
  • Account Acquisition: Expand the number of independent bookstore accounts ordering directly from Sourcebooks.
  • Backlist Promotion: Reintroduce Sourcebooks' essential backlist titles to the independent book market.
  • Marketing Initiatives: Secure prime placement, bookseller reviews, indie next nominations for Sourcebooks titles.
  • Bestseller Creation: Create regional and national bestsellers within the channel.
  • Inventory Management: Manage inventory forecasting and revenue budgeting.
  • Trade Show Representation: Represent the publisher at regional and national trade shows.
  • Author Events: Manage author events and book signings within the territory.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of book publishing sales experience, preferably with independent bookstores.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
  • Skills: Working knowledge of Edelweiss, excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, a driven goal-oriented and collaborative team player with high attention to detail, outgoing in nature, comfortable navigating sales calls, and proactive in going after new business.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in standard MS Office programs, sales reporting, and analysis, experience in forecasting and budgeting.
