Job Overview:
This role involves assisting educators in a variety of capacities to enhance student learning and supervision.

Job Summary:
Under the guidance of school leadership and teaching staff, the Instructional Support Specialist plays a crucial role in facilitating educational activities and ensuring a supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in preparing instructional materials for classroom activities.
  • Support the teaching staff in delivering lessons and managing classroom dynamics.
  • Provide individualized or small group tutoring to enhance student understanding.
  • Administer assessments and track student progress effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and engagement.
  • Foster a positive school atmosphere that promotes self-esteem and confidence among students.
  • Uphold confidentiality regarding student information and maintain professional integrity.
  • Communicate effectively with students, educators, and parents to support student success.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve educational goals.
  • Adhere to assigned work hours and responsibilities.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • For positions in Title 1 schools, candidates must possess either 48 college credit hours or pass the ParaPro exam.
Skills Required:
  • Proficient in basic reading, writing, and mathematics.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to follow instructions and directions accurately.
  • Positive interaction skills with students and staff.
  • Capability to assist students in diverse situations as they arise.
Experience:
  • No prior experience necessary.
Decision-Making:
  • Responsible for determining the best approach to complete tasks assigned by teachers.
  • Must be receptive to guidance and adhere to established protocols.
  • Encouraged to offer suggestions while following directions.
Interactions:
  • Engage positively with students, educators, and support staff.
Supervisory Duties:
  • Oversee students during instructional and non-instructional activities.
  • Provide supervision for students in various settings as required.
Work Environment:
  • Primarily classroom-based, with potential outdoor responsibilities.
  • May encounter varying weather conditions while performing duties.
  • Experience occasional stress due to student behavior or classroom dynamics.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and physical engagement with students required.
  • Occasional lifting and moving of objects up to 20 lbs.
