Position Overview

The Electronics Laboratory Support Specialist plays a crucial role in providing instructional assistance to faculty within the Electronics Technology department at Salt Lake Community College. Key Responsibilities
  • Instructional Support: Aid faculty by ensuring that laboratory and classroom facilities are well-maintained and equipped with necessary materials and supplies.
  • Equipment Management: Assist in the organization and upkeep of equipment, including minor repairs and troubleshooting of lab instruments.
  • Student Assistance: Support students with their assignments and laboratory projects, fostering a collaborative learning atmosphere.
  • Classroom Coverage: Provide regular coverage for faculty as needed, ensuring continuity in instruction.
  • Facility Maintenance: Regularly check and maintain classroom environments, ensuring all equipment and computers are operational and up to date.
  • Learning Environment: Create and uphold a clean and safe space for students to engage in learning activities.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in tracking inventory and processing equipment requisitions as assigned.
  • Adaptability: May require working a split-shift, with primary hours during the day.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Knowledge and experience in electronics assembly, including through-hole and surface-mount technologies.
  • IPC certification and familiarity with instrumentation, circuits, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Experience in providing technical training within the Electronics field.
  • Proficiency with computer-based training and assessment tools.
  • Experience in competency-based training for adult learners.
  • A strong ability to work with diverse populations and maintain excellent documentation of student performance.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • The capability to work independently within a team, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Patience, creativity, and a cooperative attitude while adhering to departmental procedures.
