Job Overview:
The Educational Support Specialist operates under the guidance of certified educational professionals and is integral to the classroom team dedicated to enhancing students' learning experiences. This role encompasses the responsibility for the safety and overall well-being of students throughout their school day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with certified staff (teachers, therapists, nurses, administrators) to implement students' Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Monitors students in various settings to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Provides administrative support, prepares educational materials, gathers data, and performs other instructional duties as assigned.
- Assists certified staff with tasks such as operating equipment, providing necessary health care, and responding to student needs.
- Supports health-related procedures under the direction of the school nurse.
- Facilitates motor development activities in conjunction with physical and occupational therapists.
- Assists in communication efforts for students with hearing and vision impairments.
- Engages with students in therapeutic and recreational settings.
- Attendance and physical presence are essential to fulfilling the responsibilities of this role.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Preferred Experience:
Previous experience working with students with disabilities is advantageous.

- Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with staff and students.
- Adaptability in addressing diverse student needs.
- Ability to take initiative within defined parameters.

Primarily based in a classroom setting, with potential tasks both indoors and outdoors. Conditions may vary, requiring adaptability to different environments.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to communicate effectively, stand, walk, and perform various physical activities.
- Visual acuity is necessary for monitoring student activities.
- Ability to lift and assist students as needed.
