Chrysalis is dedicated to delivering a range of assistance services for vulnerable adults and juveniles with intellectual disabilities, who may also face various health challenges. This role demands the capacity to operate in high-pressure and safety-critical settings, make pivotal decisions regarding the care and support of at-risk individuals, and effectively communicate those decisions to the individual's support team. Under the general guidance of the Supportive Employment Specialist, the Employment Support Specialist will offer tailored employment services to Chrysalis clients through assessment, job search strategies, job development, negotiation, and ongoing support after employment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in effective communication with the individual’s support team and employer.
  • Ensure punctuality and consistent attendance at the workplace, overseeing individuals and their schedules to facilitate successful employment outcomes.
  • Implement coaching strategies that encourage individual autonomy in the workplace.
  • Establish and nurture professional relationships with employers.
  • Instruct individuals on essential daily living skills related to their job roles.
  • Create opportunities to enhance the quality of life within the work environment.
  • Support individual choices through Discovery and implement Person-Centered Service Plans (PCSP) and objectives.
  • Complete necessary administrative tasks and documentation within specified timeframes.
  • Maintain accurate employment records and performance documentation as required by Chrysalis and state regulations.
  • Facilitate problem-solving processes by coaching both the employer and individual while evaluating performance and renegotiating as necessary.
  • Perform additional related duties or projects as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Pass a criminal background check.
  • Eligibility to drive in accordance with Chrysalis policy.
  • Ability to effectively speak, read, and write in English.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Training and Certifications:

  • Complete annual training in CPR, First Aid, OSHA, and SOAR.
  • Complete annual training on Human Rights, Abuse, Neglect, Maltreatment, and Exploitation.
  • Obtain and maintain a Food Handler's Permit.
  • Complete any other required training assigned by Chrysalis.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Comprehend policies and adhere to the Provider Code of Conduct/Abuse Neglect, Exploitation, and Maltreatment Policy in line with state standards.
  • Exhibit excellent public relations skills while interacting with individuals and employment personnel.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently.
  • Assist individuals in securing employment within their community at or above minimum wage.
  • Develop and maintain regular business contacts and professional relationships with individuals, families, advocates, support coordinators, and worksite personnel.
  • Utilize customized employment techniques, including Discovery and Person-Centered Service Planning (PCSP), to provide tailored employment services.
  • Identify individual skills, abilities, and contributions through observation and interviews to customize employer relationships.
  • Manage multiple time demands while balancing a caseload of individuals requiring a personalized approach to employment.
  • Act as a community liaison to ensure smooth transitions and continuity of service between individuals and employers.
  • Exhibit integrity, trust, and follow-through in all interactions.
  • Adhere to established safety practices and procedures to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Possess knowledge of the Vocational Rehabilitation process and services.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team to enhance service delivery while respecting individuals' rights to privacy and confidentiality.
  • Attend organizational training and provide documentation of required certifications for employment with Chrysalis.
  • Understand the qualification process for Paratransit or other transportation options and train individuals on how to utilize these services.
  • Maintain clear and legible documentation of services provided.
