The Instructional Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the educational programs of students with diverse needs. As a member of the classroom team, this position requires a high level of dedication, flexibility, and adaptability.
Key Responsibilities- Implement students' Individual Education Plans (IEPs) under the direction of certified staff.
- Supervise students indoors, outdoors, and in the community to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Provide clerical services, prepare instructional materials, collect data, and perform other instructional tasks as assigned.
- Assist with motor development programs, communicate with hearing and vision impaired students, and work with students in and around swimming and therapy pools.
- Attend to the physical and emotional needs of students, including toileting, lifting, and providing seizure care.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
- Skilled in interpersonal relations, flexible and adaptive, with the ability to show initiative and follow through on assigned tasks.
The Instructional Assistant will work in a dynamic and fast-paced classroom environment, interacting with students, parents, staff, and other district personnel. The position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on student safety and well-being.
Physical Requirements- Ability to stand, walk, run, reach, and stoop, kneel, and crouch frequently.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. and assist with heavier lifts.
- Ability to stand/sit for long periods of time.
