Position Overview:

The Project Buyer plays a crucial role within the Project Team, spearheading the sourcing process from the initial CAA preparation through to the successful completion of PQA steps and project closure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively participates in project meetings and activities, including Project Kick-Off, Sourcing Plan discussions, Technical Steering Committee, and Project Management Committee, while supporting project awards during CAA for their designated site.
  • Assists the Project Manager in the preparation of the Sourcing Plan, defining mutual commitments and conditions necessary for proceeding with Pre-SoCo (RFQ), SoCo (Award), and SOP while ensuring quality, cost, and delivery (QCD) conditions are met.
  • Identifies critical components in accordance with CLEAN definitions and collaborates with related PTM to review contingency plans, including anticipated design reviews and potential specification changes, seeking PM arbitration when necessary.
  • Engages the Segment Leader or Group Segment Director at appropriate times to communicate project constraints and propose sourcing strategies that align with the Group Segment Strategy.
  • Selects a compliant supplier bid-list and collaborates with Project and Segment organizations to identify bundling opportunities.
  • Evaluates the risk impacts of pre-selected suppliers on project development or production capacity, technical or quality capabilities, and financial sustainability, proposing mitigation plans with the project team and commodity organization.
  • Develops lotting and RFP strategies and anticipates the use of auctions in collaboration with the Project Team.
  • Coordinates the definition of S-VRF and plans supplier design reviews to ensure comprehensive understanding, capture improvement proposals, and secure supplier acceptance of Valeo requirements while enhancing competition.
  • Instills competition among suppliers, ensuring at least two suppliers reach the same technical level and oversees negotiations to facilitate successful RFQ and/or auction processes.
  • Conducts the RFQ process through PuMa and auctions (both live and online).
  • Utilizes the commodity organization to achieve pre-sourcing and sourcing decisions that align with project objectives.
  • Ensures timely approval of all supplier contracts related to the project, covering development contracts to mass production.
  • For global platforms assembled across multiple Valeo plants, coordinates with PG/PL PPD, Platform Lead Buyer (when appointed), and other project buyers to ensure project alignment with commodity strategy, localization needs, and global supply base security.
  • Monitors the achievement of all project milestones related to suppliers and tracks progress through PQA stages.
  • Defines and manages communication flows and content between project teams and suppliers, ensuring all necessary documentation is appropriately stored in PuMa.
  • Maximizes the use of all PuMa features and promotes its utilization among the project team.
  • Leads and forecasts the project purchasing index and drives the productivity action plan to meet CAA targets.
  • Ensures a smooth transition to serial production, including the implementation of pending productivity actions.
  • For advanced purchasing (P3/P2): proposes and validates target suppliers with the commodity organization and manages all contractual aspects to safeguard Valeo's intellectual property and segment panel.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronic, Electric, or Mechanical Engineering is required. Proficiency in Business English (speaking, writing, reading, and listening) is mandatory, with the ability to lead conference calls in English with multinational organizations. Strong MS-Office skills are essential.
