Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Effective Supplier Relationships: Develop and maintain effective and proper relations with suppliers or their representatives to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods and services.
  • Order Management: Place orders and determine requirements from engineering and production schedules to ensure that production needs are met.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor the movement of materials through the production cycle and maintain inventory at planned levels to optimize stock levels and reduce waste.
  • Expedited Order Fulfillment: Expedite the filling of orders by suppliers to meet production requirements and ensure timely delivery.
  • Procurement Functions: Administer basic procurement functions such as maintaining multiple sources of supply, verifying that planned purchase orders link to demand, and suggesting changes or adjustments in quantities to take advantage of price breaks and trends.
  • Requisition Management: Release new requisitions as necessary for quotations and procurement to support the required delivery of parts or services.
  • Supply Chain Optimization: Participate in initiatives that will reduce the length of the supply chain, improve fill rates, and optimize inventory levels.
  • Work Order Management: Review and release work orders per system demand, manage system-recommended messages, and maintain work order dates that adhere to the metrics for the organization.
  • Inventory Updates: Regularly update work order due dates based on fluctuations in in-house capacity and the delivery schedules from vendors.
  • System Maintenance: Regularly update safety stock levels, order minimums, and order multiples in the system.
  • Communication: Keep the Purchasing team aware of changes in delays that would affect the lead time so that the system can be kept up to date.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other work-related tasks as assigned and comply with all Company policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 3-5 years of Buying or Purchasing experience and/or an associate's degree or equivalent 2-year college or technical school.
  • ERP Experience: Experience with ERP systems required, Sage experience preferred.
  • Manufacturing Experience: Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency with Microsoft Suite software: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • MRP Experience: Prior experience with MRP software is preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent problem-solving and resolution skills, excellent planning and organizational skills including time and priority management, and regular attendance and reliability are required.
